In Te Ngahere this week we have been learning about which strategies are the best for subtracting. We found out that place value is not a good strategy, but we think equal addition is a good strategy and so is number line. So in this blog I am going to be showing you why equal addition is a good strategy for me.
So when I have been learning about equal addition I know it is a good strategy because if you had 263 - 189 you could add 11 to 189 which would be 200, then you would have to add 11 to 263 as well to make it equal so that would make 274 so 274 - 200 which is easy so it equals 74.
